3 Tips for Finding The Right Space For A Wall Decal

Posted by CM Spaans on Jul 24, 2014

Hello everyone! I would like to take a moment and explain to you how to choose the right space and size for your wall decal!

Determine the size of your open or available space - for example: from window to doorway or wall to wall. Make sure to measure it out completely, as you don't want your space to end up being too small for the decal!

As you can see in the picture below, the "welcome" decal in the window has about 2 inches on either side of it. This is the window of a "half-glass" 36" exterior door.  The Welcome decal is sized approximately 18" in width.

Decide what size you want your decal to be. The bigger the decal, the larger the space should be. In the picture below, the wall decal is 36"W x 12"H.  The height available on this beam was 15" so that leaves 1.5" above and below the Family Name Wall Decal.

Open space above, below and on each side of a wall decal makes your design stand out and more readable.

Below is an example of the wall decal being too small.  We suggest you try to use up at least half of the available space.  So if you have a 4 ft by 2 ft space, order a wall decal that is at least 2 ft by 1 ft.

We finished this area above the table off with 4x6 and 5x7 photos so the wall decal didn't look to small in the end. (Too bad I don't have that photo though!)

For this cheetah decal, we had about 6 and 1/2 feet of open space available to us. The cheetah is 58 inches wide and 20 inches high. This wall decal design doesn't have words, so almost filling the open space (only 10" on each side) works for this cheetah wall decal.

Finding a space that works for your wall decal is easy. The hard part is deciding what wall decal to actually buy!

Hope you find one you love!!
