Camper Decals: The Best RV Wall Decor Ideas
Posted by SY on Mar 09, 2026
Your camper is your home away from home — so why not make it feel like one? Whether you’ve got a vintage Airstream, a fifth wheel, or a pop-up travel trailer, camper decals are one of the fastest ways to add personality to your rig without permanent modifications.
Vinyl camper decals go on in minutes, look like they belong, and peel off clean when you’re ready for a change. No drilling, no painting, no regrets when you sell or trade in. Here are our favorite ways to use them.

Why Camper Decals Work So Well in an RV
RVs and travel trailers have unique decorating challenges. Space is limited, walls are thin, and you don’t want anything heavy that could shift while driving. Camper decals solve all of that:
|
✓ Lightweight — Nothing to fall off shelves or rattle during travel ✓ No damage — Matte vinyl peels off clean with no residue or wall damage ✓ Space-saving — Flat against the wall — takes up zero floor or shelf space ✓ Personality — Turn a generic rental-style interior into something that actually feels like yours |
Popular Camper Decal Styles
Personalized Door Decals
|
These are the showstoppers at any campground. Custom camper door decals feature your family name, an established date, and camping-themed graphics like trees and mountains. They go right on your RV’s exterior door — made with glossy outdoor vinyl that handles sun, rain, and road vibration. A great conversation starter at the campsite. |
Camping Quote Wall Decals
|
For the walls inside your camper, camping quote decals add that cozy, “this is our happy place” energy. Popular sayings include “Life’s Better Around the Bonfire,” “Happy Glamper,” and “Not All Who Wander Are Lost.” Most camper wall decals are sized to fit RV interiors — typically 12x12 inches or up to 23 inches — so they work in tight spaces above a dinette, next to the bed, or over the kitchen counter. |
Adventure & Travel Decals
If your style leans more wanderlust than campfire, there’s a whole category of travel-themed decals — mountain silhouettes, compass roses, and phrases like “Adventure Awaits” and “Find That One Place That Makes You Happy.” These work just as well in a home office or mudroom as they do in a camper.
Where to Put Camper Decals
Not sure where to stick them? Here are the best spots inside and outside your RV:
| Location | Best Decal Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Exterior door | Personalized door decal | Use outdoor glossy vinyl; shows off your family name at the campsite |
| Above the dinette | Quote decal (12x12”) | Great focal point where everyone gathers for meals |
| Bedroom wall | Romantic or inspirational quote | Makes the sleeping area feel intentional, not afterthought |
| Kitchen backsplash | Small cooking or coffee quote | Smooth surfaces only — test adhesion on textured RV walls first |
| Tumbler or cooler | Small vinyl sticker | Tumbler decals add personality to your camp gear |
|
Pro tip: RV interior walls can be smooth composite, wallpaper, or lightly textured vinyl. Our matte vinyl decals adhere best to smooth, clean surfaces. If your walls have a heavy texture, test a small decal in an inconspicuous spot first. |
How to Apply Camper Decals
|
1. Clean the surface — Wipe with rubbing alcohol or soapy water. RV walls collect road dust and cooking grease, so a good cleaning makes a big difference in adhesion. 2. Dry-fit first — Hold the decal against the wall (still on its backing) and use painter’s tape to mark placement. Step back and check it looks centered. 3. Peel and apply — Remove the backing paper, press the decal starting from one edge, and smooth outward with a credit card or squeegee to push out air bubbles. 4. Remove transfer tape — Peel the transfer tape slowly at a sharp angle. If any letters lift, press it back down and rub firmly before trying again. |
For exterior door decals, apply on a mild day (55–85°F) and make sure the surface is completely dry. Glossy outdoor vinyl is designed to handle sun, rain, and highway speeds.
Interior vs. Exterior Camper Decals
There’s an important difference between decals made for inside your camper and those made for the outside:
- Interior decals use matte vinyl — looks like paint, easy to read at close range, and won’t reflect overhead lighting. Perfect for walls, cabinets, and small spaces.
- Exterior door decals use glossy outdoor vinyl — UV-resistant, waterproof, and designed to stay vibrant for years in direct sunlight and weather exposure.
Gift Ideas for Campers
Know someone who lives for camping season? A personalized camper door decal with their family name makes a genuinely thoughtful gift — way better than another s’mores kit. Pair it with a custom tumbler decal for the full campsite look.
