Autumn fall decorating and home decor tips

Autumn fall decorating and home decor tips

"Autumn....the year's last, loveliest smile". (William Cullen Bryant)

With the advent of cool, crisp breezes and glorious foliage, this is the perfect time to add a little seasonal pizzaz to your home.

Create several small vistas to incorporate the colors and textures of Autumn. Table-top arrangements are easy to assemble and quite cost-effective. Imagine a small stack of books, an old school lunchbox, a few branches of colorful leaves, a few apples and a miniature pumpkin gracing the center of the dining table.

Involve all of the senses. Add textiles in rich hues of burgundy, gold and rust for texture and softness. Bring the aromas of the season to the forefront by simmering cinnamon sticks and nutmeg gently on the stove. Tempt the taste buds by placing a basket of red and yellow apples by the front door to greet your guests in style.

This is the time of year for family! Dig out and display any photographs that you have of family activities, especially those focused on the holidays. What could be better than memories?

Remember curb appeal. Hang an Autumn themed wreath on the front door and place a pot of mums and a pumpkin or two on the front porch. The mantle is also a perfect place to display some artwork in autumnal colors. Add some soft lighting with candles, a few ears of Indian corn.
