Facts About Metallic Gold and Silver Wall Decals

Gold is all about sophistication in home decor. It will make any room look more chic instantly!

The metallic gold in this wall decal shows up very well against the blue wall. But notice how it seems to become darker when viewed from a different angle.

The gold on the planter, at times, looks more like an olive green color than it does metallic gold.  I'm not totally sure why, but I think the metallic part of the gold decal fades with the dark planter around it.  Much of how our metallic wall stickers will display has to do with the lighting in the area.

Silver makes a statement as well. It has an understated beauty that shows up better on darker colored walls than lighter ones. 

Even though it has an elegant shine, our Metallic Silver material can be a little tricky to work with.  So think through your goal before using this color choice.  Some people think that Metallic Silver is automatically vibrant and bright.  Here's the tricky part: the metallic part plays differently off of your lighting.  

If you are trying to make a BOLD statement, Metallic Silver may not be the color for you.  If you are working with lettering, there is a chance that part of a letter will be dark and almost fade into your wall color, depending on your lighting and where you view the design.   Use Metallic Silver sparingly for fine lettering, simply because parts of the lettering may "disappear" at a glance,; which will make the design harder to read.  Look at the photo of the Metallic Silver thread and notice how may different color shades you are seeing.

Wikipedia states: Silver is a metallic color tone resembling gray that is a representation of the color of polished silver. This cannot be reproduced by a simple solid color, because the shiny effect is due to the material's brightness varying with the surface angle to the light source.

In general, Gold is more elegant and easier to work with. Silver also adds elegance, but I would advise using it sparingly, like in our office wall decal verse pictured above.
